Very productive and exciting day!

Today was probably the best Saturday I have had in a long time. Partly because the weather is absolutely gorgeous!!! I got up early...really early...7:30ish. I wanted to wear a particular pair of pants today so that meant I had to dig them out of my closet within my closet. (Background- I have a big walk in closet that was built in front of an existing in-the-wall-closet). In the process I went through about 4 big bins of clothing that i have stored in there. A lot of it is stuff I will never wear again, either due to how old it is, how out of style it is, or the size it is. I ended up with about a bin and a half of stuff to get rid of. Then I put the rest of the clean laundry away before getting ready for our shopping excursion to IKEA.
After a quick breakfast at McD's (hubbys idea) we mapped out our game plan and went in! We got flooring, padding and molding for the nursery. Picked up the crib, under crib bin, teething rails, bookcase, and storage bins for the bookcase. We also got a new dresser-like cabinet for some of my crap in the bedroom. $775 later we went to try and shove it all in the back of my SUV. We only went on this crazy spree because this weekend is "tax-free" weekend at IKEA...actually it's better than tax free because they discount everything you buy by 6% (MD tax), thus making the actual item cheaper since you have to pay 6% on the total at the end. We saved over $45 buy getting everything now! Since it's all packed in flat boxes, we'll just store it (somewhere) until we're ready to put it together and get it in the baby's room.

We're doing pretty good so far! We already have the dressers, my mom is using the ones I grew up with and they are in great shape so we're putting them in the nursery when she gets new furniture. My mom bought us the crib bedding as a surprise last weekend and just about everything else is on the registry. There's still so much to do in preparation for the baby. We have some serious construction projects that need to be done in his room before I can even start decorating.
After dropping my SUV at home with all the IKEA stuff in it (I did help unload what I could...despite what my husband like to tell people), I headed of to Saturn for a few hours to get some work finished. Afterwards Mike and I went over my friend's house for some pasta, salad and garlic bread...YUM! We had all intentions of playing Apples to Apples and Pig Toss (i think that's what it's called) but we got distracted by WALL-E and ended up watching it.

All in all it was a great day and night!
Tomorrow we have plans to hang out with Mike's brother and sis-in-law. We're gonna do some baby window shopping down in Rockville.
