SInce this is now the place for show & tell...
So I get a text the other night that hubby wants me to update my blog so he can show off what we're doing around the house. And here I thought he didn't look at this page!
Since this one's for the guys, it'll be mostly pictures and few words (like Playboy w/o the nekid-ness).
First up...the bathroom:
Ceremonal handing of the last tile.

Tile's all up.
Can't wait to relax in here!

Grouting's all done. Doesn't it look perdy?
Now for the nursery...

Mike started building the frame for the new wall! Dillan now has 4 "walls" in his room!!!

Here's a close-up of the crazy new return ducting.
It runs up the wall...
Into the bathroom...
And out into the hall to draw the cool air from downstairs and recirculate the hot air upstairs.
Ok, back to the nursery....

Ductwork being framed in to make usable space. Not to mention that it's really hard to decorate around all that metal!
Ok...now that pictres are up I better get some good comments dammit! =)

Hoo-ray Progress!
Lots of activity around the house lately. Most of it has been good and very productive…but it’s being done by hired contractors. We had our electrical panel replaced yesterday and the line to our house upgraded! Yea!! We’ll soon be able to run the washer and dryer at the same time…or the pool filter and the vacuum…or an iron and anything else! The new box is HUGE! We have lots of free breakers to expand and separate some of the goofy circuits in the house. After much deliberation, many estimates, and several credit apps, we found a company who would finance the Heating & A/C system replacement without having to add me to the deed. Clean Air based in Baltimore is doing our installation. We needed a new A/C unit after ours broke beyond repair last summer (a mere 3 months AFTER our home owners warranty expired…figures). We went with a Carrier Infinity series A/C and have to get a new furnace since ours wasn’t compatible with any new system. It needed to go anyway as the fan never stopped running, was really loud, and incredibly inefficient. Along with the new units, we got a new thermostat that will minimize energy consumption. We also had air return ducts installed upstairs since the hose didn’t have them. We had vents for hot and cool air to go upstairs, but nothing to circulate the air back down. In the summer, with the a/c on, it was at least 15 degrees hotter upstairs than down. Not anymore!!
New duct for hallway. Comes up through the nursery, into the bath (where Mike was on the phone describing it to me!) and out to the hall!
The crinkled tube will go into the new wall to vent both sides of the room and we'll drywall around all exposed metal.
All this not only increases our comfort and the baby’s, but it will save us a ton of money in heating and cooling costs as well as increase the value of our home. Now that everything is in place, Mike’s going to be able to get the nursery finished in no time…which is a good thing considering we have between 4 and 6 weeks left until Dillan’s arrival!

This past weekend was also my baby shower. My SILIL*, my BFF and one of my other great friends organized the whole thing. It was a lot of fun even though only a few people were able to attend. It’s times like those that make you realize who your true friends are…the ones that want to be there for all your ups and downs. We had a great time tasting baby food from shot glasses and just talking. Thanks to all the girls who made it a special day and an extra special big thanks to Laura, Lala, and Debbie!!

*SILIL= sister-in-law-in-law… married to husband’s brother, thus making her my brother-in-law’s wife and my SILIL!! Though technically she's my SIL, I consider her my sister!
BTW- She’s got a great blog about her preemie twin boys…Taylo2Babies

Ahhhh! Only 6 weeks left!
Maybe less. I could delivery as soon as 4 weeks from now if Dillan doesn't stop his growth spurt! Good news is that I tested negative again for Gestional Diabetes. Bad news is that he STILL doesn't have a room! Hubby's working hard on it though. It just seems like so much more could be done by now. I mean we finished the bathroom in a total of 3 days (spread out over the last 2 weeks due to work/ weather). Why is it taking so long to put the insulation back up, install the drywall and the mini-door???
Once the drywall goes up I can spackle and start painting...granted I'll be painting one wall at a time, but it's progress!
Heating, A/C, and electric panel upgrade all start on Monday and I couldn't be more excited! I can't wait to be able to do a load in the washer and one in the dryer...at the same time!!! Or iron and vaccume...or have the pool filter on and wash dishes! See...I don't ask for much, just the simple little things that everyone else gets to do. Lol.
Last weekend we went to BRU and bought all the things that we didn't think we'd be getting at my shower due to price and that we knew we'd need right away if the baby or the doctor decided he's coming sooner than expected. We picked up the second carseat base, the Pack and Play for him to sleep in, the changing table pad, some newborn diapers, his hospital/ coming home outfit, and a Health/ Grooming kit. We also got a few other small things that were on sale and we wanted. I've been really good about not stalking my registry to see what's being bought. I like being surprised. I only went on to make sure that the stuff we bought came off.
That's it for now I guess. I'm feeling lazy today...lol.

How I celebrated being 8 mos pregnant...
This has been one of the most productive weekends in a LONG time! Saturday I got up early and woke the hubby. We started right away in the bathroom. Since we can't use the surround we bought due to it's size (we don't have the standard 60" on one end of the new giant tub), we decided we'd have to tile. I picked out the tile I wanted and designed the new tub surround. Earlier in the week we bought all the tile and backer board so we'd be ready to go this weekend.
Mike measured and cut the backer board since it was very heavy and dusty. I measured and cut all the green board. We managed to get the entire area covered before heading off to our friends' housewarming party. Here's some pix from the installation
.

Stupid slanted ceiling was a pain in the butt

Sunday we got up early again and figured out the game plan for putting up the tile. Neither of us had ever done it before and I wanted it to be perfect. It took about 4 1/2 hours, including the trip Mike made to my dad's for his wet saw, my trip to Home Depot for a few small supplies, and an early dinner/ late lunch. Once I figured out that the walls are neither flat nor square with one another I was able to adjust my measurements and lay the tile. It came out pretty darn good I must say! We were only able to get the big wall done since Mike has to work tonight at 10 and needed to sleep for a bit. We have a plan to get the ceiling painted, the rest of the dry wall done, and the tiles done before I go in and paint all the walls next weekend. All we'll need then is the new floor and vanity...which can wait until the nursery is done. Speaking for the nursery...the Heating/ AC people are coming with the contract for us to sign on Wed. !!! WOO HOO!!!! They're going to do our electrical box first then the Heating/ AC install! As soon as that's all done Mike can finish the nursery. I've only got about 8 weeks left until Dilly's arrival so I hope it all goes smoothly. I am really excited about painting his room and decorating it. I just hope I'll be able to before he comes!!!
Here's the pix of our bathroom so far...

Had a busy weekend
Time really does fly doesn’t it? In just 9-11 short weeks I’ll be a mom to a little baby boy, Dillan Oliver. We still have a TON of stuff to do upstairs, but Mike is beginning to make some progress. He secured the new floor in the bathroom and we set the tub in place. I must say, it’s a thing of beauty! So big!!! He still has to hook up all the plumbing and figure out how to make the surround work. The one we bought is one I fell in love with a few years ago but with our angular ceiling, it doesn’t fit at one end. It also lines up a bit funny with the design of the tub. We may have to exchange it for another one, which sucks because there aren’t any I like as much.
In the nursery he has all the insulation sized and what can be secured to the studs is in place. He ran new electric lines to add more outlets…can you believe a room that size only had 2?? He also cut up the remaining piece of damaged sub-flooring and has another piece cut and ready to go down. We’re waiting to see what’s going to happen with the a/c replacement before we can really finish the floor and walls. In the meantime, he’s been working on the bathroom. Hopefully I’ll have a place to relax and take a warm bubble bath soon!
It's in...just not ready to use.
Last weekend not much work got done since we were pretty busy with obligations outside the house.

- Friday was my friend’s wedding rehearsal and dinner. All her bridesmaids were giving a Pandora bracelet and charm. Now I want to go get more! Isn’t that how it always goes though?
- Saturday was the wedding and I was out of the house around 8:30 since I had to get my hair done and be at her house by 12. My hair turned out cute, it was a large bun with loose curls and loops. We got dressed at her house and took pictures (which I will post later tonight). The dresses we wore flattered all of us, even my 30 week preggo belly! The dresses were a really comfy cotton jersey knit with satin trim detail and a Grecian style top. Here’s me walking down the alse…
The weather held out and it got sunny and warm about 15 min before the outside, waterfront ceremony. It did rain a little later in the day, but no one cared since the reception was inside. All in all, it was a beautiful wedding and an unforgettable day! I’m so honored she chose me to be a part of it.
- Sunday was my family baby shower. My mom held it at the community center where my grandmother lives. It was very nice. Several of my aunts and cousins didn’t come, but I really didn’t expect much from them. They don’t usually go out of their way to attend family functions. The family and family friends that really cared about me did come and it was a lovely day. My mom, Aunt D, and Grandmom did a really nice job decorating and putting all the food together. Mike and I received some awesome gifts for the baby! We got our stroller and infant carrier. We didn’t register for them as a travel system since we figured it would be easier for separate people to buy them and not have to spend as much. We got lots of adorable baby gear and I can’t wait for Dilly’s room to be done so I can set it all up!
To top off the already great weekend, I got a return email from a lady I contacted from Craigslist. She had a glider and ottoman listed that was EXACTLY what Mike and I were looking for. He’s very particular about the design of the arms, they had to slope and not be uncomfortable to rest against. He also preferred the solid sides to the open, slatted design that is more common. We were looking at over $900 for the set if we bought it new. We picked them up in Lancaster, PA last night and saved more than $600!!!!!!!!! I’m soooo glad the lady still had them and was willing to come down on the price! SCORE!

The lovely ladies I work with
Yesterday started out like any other day. I went to work like I do every day. My co-worker S and I had the same lunch time and like usually, decided to eat together. We had both brought our lunches and I figured we’d go down to the cafeteria and eat. Late in the morning she tells me that another girl in the office, K, wants to walk to the market for a burrito. I got one last time we went and she wants to try them. I agreed and we made plans to walk over for lunch. S comes to get me around quarter to 1 and says we should go to lunch early since both she and K have meetings at 2. No biggie, the phone were covered so we left. Lunch as usual was good; you can’t beat a $3 stuffed burrito!K had to get back to make her meeting so after eating we walked back to work. Before heading upstairs, K wanted to check out one of the conference rooms that she needed to schedule a meeting in. When we got there it sounded like there was a meeting going on. She knocked and went in. I was going to wait in the hall, but they told me to come in…SURPRISE! All the girls from nursing Admin and Recruitment were there for my surprise baby shower!!!! OMG was I shocked!I totally wasn’t expecting it! I figured I’d get a card and maybe we’d do cake at the last staff meeting before I’m due, but nothing like this!
The girls had lemonade, a cake, and gifts. It was so awesome. I got a lot of really great stuff including my diaper bag, blanket, washcloths, books, stuffed animals, baby care products, and the program I support pitched in and bought the convertible car/booster seat we registered for!
I have the greatest co-workers ever! Thanks girls for making an ordinary Monday extra special!I would post pictures, but I didn’t have my camera with me!

wow...
A few months ago my fabulous SIL took me to a Mom's of Multiples re-sale and I not only scored a bunch of baby gear, but I picked up my first "novelty item", a home dopler, for $8. It's the same kit Babies R Us sells for about $40 and doesn't get the best reviews. I didn't care...it was cool and I was looking forward to hearing my baby boys heartbeat before I went to bed at night.
I tried it the first night and couldn't hear anything...a little disapointing, but it was still early in my pregnancy. I tried every few weeks to hear even the tiniest "thump thump". My hubby and I were listening one night and a car went by outside...it sounded like the car was in my belly! We cracked up...but still no thump-thump. To be fair, the box says that it works best beyond the 8th month.
Well tonight, a few days after entering my 3rd trimester, I decided to give it another go. Wouldn't you know it...there is was...thump thump thump thump...what a great sound!
I have heard his heartbeat in the Dr's office sevral times, but to hear it at home while relaxing in bed...that's just too cool!!!
If I can figure out how the recording thingy works, I'll try and post a sound clip.
For anyone interested in the dopler system we have, here's the link:

28 weeks...
I made it to 7 months... only 12 weeks to go!
Which gets me thinking...pregnancy is really 10 mos, so why does everyone say 9?????
It's 40 weeks from the first day of your last period -or- 38 weeks from conception.
Neither of which is 9 mos. I will be 9 mos on June 26, but I am not due until July 23rd ish...4 weeks later.
So really at 9 mos, I am just beginning to enter the 9th month...not due at 9 mos. It's so weird!
Anyhoo, I am beginning my third trimester (don't even get me started on how they divide 40 weeks into 3 parts...) and starting to really feel like a big 'ol pregnant lady!
Me today...

I'm off to Tampa, FL tomorrow to visit the Mo-Da's and their cutie pie little girl! # days of fun in the sun!!!
